Why Niagara - A Little History!

Fact: Niagara Falls has ALWAYS been known as the "Honeymoon Capital of the world"

Ever wonder why?

We did a little research for you:

In the early 1900's travel and tourism was just becoming popular. During this era, King Edward of England brought his new bride to Niagara, during their honeymoon. The newspapers of the day were of course following the couple, and images of the Falls were then shown around the world!! For a lot of people , they were seeing the majesty of the Falls for the First time!

It became the "in" thing to do , to travel to Niagara as the Royals did for one's honeymoon!!
100 years later, Niagara is not only STILL the honeymoon capital of the world, but is rapidly becoming the "Destination wedding capital" of the world!

Destination Weddings are becoming the fastest growing trend. It is a wonderful way for couples to combine their wedding and honeymoon! In fact 10 percent of the 2 million American couples who marry each year plan destination weddings! This is a 200% increase during the past decade according to Modern Bride magazine.

1000's of couples who come to Niagara every year can't be wrong!

How about a quick Niagara fun fact.
Did you know the band Honeymoon Suite is from Niagara? it's true! Honeymoon Suite, a good ol' Canadian Rock band formed in 1982 stemmed from right here in Niagara Falls Ontario! In fact, their latest album is entitled Clifton Hill.

The Niagara Region is home to many other great artists, and has been a stepping stone to artists from other parts of Canada as well. An active region with great culture, Niagara is the place to be!

Quote from “Honeymoon Haven.com”:

Niagara Falls: Ranking the second most popular and romantic vacation destination for honeymooners, the natural wonders of Niagara Falls is both popular and affordable and can be enjoyed from either the US or the Canada side.

There IS something in the mist – that rises up from the water after it plunges over the edge and comes crashing down 100's of feet below! The "Romance in the air" can't quite be described although many have tried!
