To walk down the aisle or not!?

To walk down the aisle or to not…that is the question and… thank-you for asking

“Do I have to walk down the aisle?” We get asked this a lot at the little log chapel on the wedding day. The bride arrive with various feelings of anxiety, some couples would really like to walk down the aisle in  traditional style with someone escorting them. The days of father walking daughter exclusively are long over. Many brides choose to walk down by themselves or with their mother or any other family member.  There was a bride recently who chose her best friend to walk with her. One can choose their child or children or a friend or choose to not walk down at all. You pick your special person to walk you down to your partner, no judgement from us! We want all of our couples to be happy, joyful and their dreams to come true for their day.

It comes as a surprise to some brides that they do not have to walk down the aisle at all if they do not desire to. They assumed it is something that must be done on a wedding day and breathe a sigh of relief when they find out they do not have to. We had one bride recently who replied “no I don’t want to walk down the aisle and thank-you for asking”. It is this response that prompted us to write a blog post about it. We hadn’t really realized that brides are grateful to be asked rather than told that they must do.

Walking down the aisle is a personal choice and couples who elope can make their wedding day precisely what THEY want. Wedding days at the chapel are relaxed and stress-free, just the way it should be!
